Swim before 09:00 or after 16:00. Between 11:00 and 15:00 the sand is too hot and the UV is at its worst; in June the average maximum is 34.9°C. My Khe is 4.7 km from Han Market, six minutes by Grab, and there is no entry ticket.

The shape of a beach day
A beach day in Da Nang is not an all-day sit. The sun between 11:00 and 15:00 makes the sand uncomfortable underfoot and the shade crowded, and the light at the ends of the day is why people come back with photographs worth keeping. Two shorter sessions beat one long one.
The workable pattern: swim at 06:30 when the water is flat and the beach belongs to locals doing exercises, eat breakfast, disappear indoors or into a cafe from 11:00, then come back at 16:00 for the two hours that end in sunset.

| Window | What it is like | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| 06:00–09:00 | Flat water, locals, soft light | Breakfast places fill by 08:00 |
| 16:00–18:30 | Warm water, sunset, families | The sea gets choppier in the late afternoon |
In June, July and August the afternoon window is the better of the two, because the morning heats up fast — 34.4°C in July. In December and January the sea is cooler and the wind is up, so midday is the only comfortable slot and you will have the beach to yourself.
What the beach actually costs
There is no entry ticket for My Khe. What you pay for is everything around it: a sunbed and umbrella set from one of the beachfront operators, food and drinks, and the Grab there and back. We do not print those prices because they change by operator and by season, and a number here would be wrong by the time you arrive.
What can be stated exactly is what the day is not: it is not a 1,000,000₫ ticket like Ba Na, and it does not need a booking. A beach day is the least expensive full day on a Da Nang itinerary, which is why it is also the easiest to move when the weather turns.
The sea itself
My Khe faces east, which is why the morning is the calm side of the day and why the beach is at its busiest before work. The sand is fine and the shelf is gentle — you can stand a long way out — but there are currents after heavy rain, and the flags are not decorative.
In the rainy season, runoff from the rivers reaches the bay and the water near the river mouths carries debris for a day or two after a storm. Swimming is still possible; picking your spot is the difference between a good swim and a bad one.
After the beach
The beach road is lined with seafood restaurants that price by weight and are busiest between 18:00 and 20:00. Eat at 17:30 if you want a table without waiting, and ask for the price before the fish goes on the scale — that is normal practice here, not suspicion.
If you have sand in places you did not expect and a flight in the morning, an hour indoors before dinner is the practical move: three branches, open until 20:30, prices from 300,000₫ for the foot spa. It also solves the problem of what to do with wet swimwear — you sit still while it stops dripping.
Red flags, and the month they appear
The lifeguards put red flags up when the swell and the runoff make swimming unsafe, and they are not advisory decoration: My Khe has had drownings, and the flags are the only warning system on a beach this long. If a flag is up, swim at the patrolled stretch or not at all.
August is the month to watch: 167 mm over 14 rain days, double July, and the start of the swell that builds through the autumn. After any heavy rain, give the water a day — river runoff reaches the bay and carries debris with it.

Questions people ask
Does it cost anything to use My Khe beach?
No entry ticket is charged. You pay for sunbeds, umbrellas, food and transport, and those prices are set by each operator.
What time should I swim?
Before 09:00 or after 16:00. In June and July the morning heats up quickly, so the late afternoon is the better of the two.
Is the sea safe for swimming?
Usually yes, with flags. Red flags go up when the swell and runoff are strong, and after heavy rain the water near river mouths carries debris.
Can I do the beach and Ba Na in one day?
Not comfortably. Ba Na takes 07:00 to mid-afternoon; the beach is the two hours after that, which works only if you come down early.
